Despite his poor health, the elderly Josef has a strong character and is unflinching in his wish to live without help. His attempts to call off the housekeeper hired by his son result in an argument, which leads to an unfortunate turn of events for both. The old man does however show that he is as kind of heart as he is stubborn. A beautifully yet soberly shot, touching film about a good man with imperfections that make him all the more human.

Thielecke studied German and American Literature and Culture until 1998, but got involved in film in 2000. She attended a class in Film Production at New York University in 2003 and has been studying Directing at the Hamburg Media School since 2006.
